A barracuda is a large, predatory, ray-finned fish and well known for its fearsome appearance and ferocious behaviour. The barracuda fish is a saltwater fish, and part of the genus sphyraena , the only genus in the family Sphyraenidae. in which was found and named by Constantine Samuel Rafinesque in 1815.
It is found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide ranging from the eastern border of the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea, on its western border the Caribbean Sea, and in tropical areas of the Pacific Ocean. Barracudas lives near the top of the water and near coral reefs and sea grasses.
The origin name of barracuda rise at 1670 and it came from American Spanish (Carib word) probably came from Catalan dialectal (Valencia) barracó snaggletooth. The name of Barracuda already stick to this predatory marine fishes, which have an elongated body and a projecting lower jaw with fanglike teeth.
